Follow these sections in order the first time you use the portal — after that, jump straight to what you need.

1

Getting Started & Signing In

All Users

The HPC ERP System is the single portal for registering an account, requesting PARAM Shakti cluster access, and managing your HPC profile. It is available at hpc.iitkgp.ac.in/app. If you already have an account, sign in with your registered email and password below.

The sign-in screen — new users click "Faculty" or "Student" under "New user?" to start registration.

2

Creating Your Account — Faculty

Faculty

Fill in the registration form completely and accurately — your Department, Employee ID, and contact details are verified during account approval.

3

Creating Your Account — Student

Students

Student accounts require a sponsoring PI (Principal Investigator) / Guide / Advisor / Supervisor — your application is routed to them for approval before it reaches the admin team.

Student Registration — note the PI selector and Roll Number format checker.

4

Verifying Your Email

All Users

After submitting registration, a 6-digit one-time code (OTP) is emailed to the address you registered with. Enter it to complete your account creation.

The OTP is valid for 15 minutes; you can request a new one after a 60-second cooldown.

infoYour account is not created until the OTP is verified. If the code expires, use "Resend" rather than starting the registration form over.
5

Your Dashboard

All Users

Once your account is approved, the Dashboard is your home screen — it summarizes your account status, validity period, and cluster applications at a glance.

Faculty Dashboard

Faculty additionally see a "My Students" count and can manage students they supervise.

Student Dashboard

Students see their own account status and cluster application progress, including when it's forwarded to their PI.

6

Applying for Cluster Access

All Users

Having an approved account does not automatically grant cluster access — apply separately from "Apply for Cluster" in the sidebar.

Approval chain:

Student applies Forwarded to PI Forwarded to Admin Engineer issues credentials
Faculty applies Forwarded to Admin Engineer issues credentials

From "My Applications" you can also request a validity extension or a cluster password reset once you have approved access — both go through the same review process as a new application.

7

Managing Your Profile & Password

All Users

"My Profile" shows your full account record and lets you request a validity extension or change your login password.

My Profile — account details, extension request, and password change all in one place.

warningYour cluster password (used to SSH into PARAM Shakti) is separate from your portal login password — cluster credentials are always emailed to you directly by the engineering team, never shown on this page.
8

Reviewing Student Requests

Faculty Only

As a PI, you review two things for the students who list you as their guide: their account registration and their cluster access requests.

Pending Student Approvals

Approve or reject a student's account registration — approving forwards it to the admin team for final sign-off.

New Student Cluster Requests

Forward a student's cluster access request to the admin team, or reject it with a reason.

My Students

A full list of every student registered under you, with their current status and validity.
