Accessibility Statement

Our commitment

The IIT Kharagpur High Performance Computing Facility is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, including people with visual, motor, auditory, or cognitive disabilities. We continue to review and improve accessibility as the site evolves.

Conformance status

This site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means some parts of the content do not fully meet the accessibility standard yet, though the great majority of pages and interactive components do. A full independent WCAG audit has not been performed; conformance is based on internal review (including automated axe-core testing across every page) and the features listed below.

Accessibility features

  • A skip-to-content link, reachable as the first stop when navigating by keyboard
  • An accessibility toolbar (bottom-left corner of every page) offering: adjustable text size, a high-contrast display mode, an underline-all-links option, a dyslexia-friendly font (OpenDyslexic), a reduce-motion option that pauses scrolling/animated content, and a read-aloud control that reads the page's main content using your browser's built-in text-to-speech
  • A site-wide light/dark theme toggle
  • Keyboard-navigable menus, forms, and interactive controls, with visible focus indicators
  • Text alternatives for informational images
  • A logical heading structure and semantic landmarks on every page

Known limitations

We're aware of the following gaps and are working to address them over time:

  • The homepage's photo backgrounds (hero and About sections) do not currently dim or hide themselves in high-contrast mode, which can reduce text contrast against the underlying photo for some users
  • Some older PDF documents linked from this site (guides, workshop materials) may not be fully screen-reader accessible
  • A small number of third-party embedded components (e.g. map or video embeds, where used) rely on that provider's own accessibility support, which is outside our direct control

Compatibility

This site is designed to work with recent versions of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari, on both desktop and mobile, together with commonly used screen readers (e.g. NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver). The accessibility toolbar's text-to-speech and font features depend on your browser's own built-in support and may not be available in every browser.

Feedback and contact

If you encounter an accessibility barrier anywhere on this site, please let us know — we want to fix it. Include the page URL and a short description of the issue if possible.
